Christophorus

Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra was the first orchestra to be broadcast to a national USA radio audience in 1921 and the third American orchestra to make a commercial recording in 1917. The Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras have sold over 10 million recordings since 1980.

ICA CLASSICS is a division of the management agency International Classical Artists Ltd (ICA). The new label features both archive material from sources such as the BBC, WDR in Cologne and the Boston Symphony Orchestra (the LEGACY series), as well as performances from the agency’s own artists recorded in prestigious venues around the world (the LIVE series). The majority of the recordings are enjoying their first commercial release.

Its ‘Pathways of the Baroque’ series explores forgotten treasures of the European and Latin American Baroque, while the ‘Adventures’ and ‘Organ’ series bring to life opera/oratorio and music for the ‘king of instruments’, respectively.
Kings College

Founded in the fifteenth century, the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge is the pre-eminent representative of the British church music tradition. It is most famous for singing A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, the Christmas Eve service that the BBC has broadcast since 1928.

Le Chant du Monde

The first French firm to conduct a joint activity as publisher of both printed music and recordings, Le Chant du Monde celebrated its seventieth birthday in 2008. Originally devoted to championing the contemporary French and Russian repertoire, its recording branch rapidly opened its doors to world music, chanson, and music for children, to which jazz has been added in recent times.
Les Arts Florissants

A non-profit organization constituted under the French law of 1901. Their mission is to perform and make known, in France and abroad, the music and musical heritage of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, as well as to engage in, without limitation, any activities of composition, research, teaching, training, and publishing related to the promotion of Baroque music.
Ligia

The French company Ligia is particularly strong in keyboard repertoire, with a large collection of discs from the dynamic young organist Olivier Vernet (whose recordings of Bach and Liszt have been particularly well received by the critical press), but has also developed a series of unusual chamber repertoire, particularly from the Baroque period, featuring such renowned artists as Roberta Invernizzi,  Johanette Zomer, Sagittarius and La Turbulente.
London Philharmonic Orchestra

The London Philharmonic Orchestra made its first recordings on 10 October 1932, just three days after its first public performance following its founding by Sir Thomas Beecham.  It has recorded and broadcast regularly ever since, and in 2005, established its own CD label. These CDs are unique: amongst them are archive recordings, studio recordings, live concert recordings and recordings of world-premiere performances. Repertoire encompasses music from the baroque to the present day; music for the concert hall, music for the opera house, and music for children. Conducted by the charismatic Vladimir Jurowski, the LPO tours Australia late 2009.
London Symphony Orchestra Live

LSO Live captures the world famous orchestra’s concert performances - the musicians choose what should be recorded and are involved throughout the production process. To date LSO Live has released 80 recordings with many of the world’s leading conductors including Valery Gergiev, Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Mariss Jansons and the late Mstislav Rostropovich. The label won its first Grammy awards in 2002 and since collected Classical Brit Awards, Gramophone Awards and numerous other international prizes.
Long Distance

Traditional acoustic music of the world is a seemingly inexhaustible source of new sounds and new ways of expressing emotions in music. Founded by celebrated film score composer Armand Amar, the label strives to create a proper synthesis between authenticity and (production) quality by recording music. Dedicated to the more urban musical currents, a second line has been created within the label, named 'Cities'. Amar also runs a world music studio in Paris which has a legendary collection of some 300 instruments from around the globe.
Lyrita

From the 1960s to the 1990s, those with a taste for obscure English classical composers, or for the obscure works of the well-known ones, needed only one port of call: Lyrita Records. Founded in 1959 by Richard Itter, the label specialised in finding the great unknowns of our musical canon, and putting them before the public. It did so on vinyl LPs that became renowned both for the high standard of their pressings and their performances.

Manticore

Manticore Records was the legendary imprint established by Emerson Lake & Palmer in 1973 for the purposes of releasing new ELP-related material, but also to promote the work of artists admired by the band. The label was active for just over three years, but during this time the imprint released a series of wonderful albums by artists such as Stray Dog, P.F.M., Banco, Pete Sinfield, Keith Christmas and others.
Marco Polo

The original concept of the Marco Polo label was to bring to listeners unknown compositions by well-known composers. There was, at the same time, an ambition to bring the East to the West. Since then there have been many changes in public taste and in the availability of recorded music. Composers once little known are now easily available in recordings. Marco Polo, in consequence, has set out on further adventures of discovery and exploration.
Mariinsky

Launched in May 2009, draws on the theatre's rich legacy and historical ties to the Great Russian composers. It showcases the extraordinary talent within the theatre and orchestra, presenting new recordings of works that are both familiar and less well known to the widest possible audience.

Each recording is made using high-definition technology in the new Mariinsky Concert Hall, which has been widely acclaimed for its exceptional acoustic. Recording commenced in July 2008 during the annual White Nights Festival and are available on SACD from the Mariinsky label website and all good retailers. Living Era was for many years the world’s leading Nostalgia label and its demise in 2007 at the hands of Universal Music was a serious loss to fans of vintage popular music. Rondeau presents the highest quality choral music performed by St. Thomas’s Leipzig (Bach’s ‘original’ choir), Knabenchor Hannover, and Windsbacher Knabenchor, with leading soloists and orchestras including Christine Schafer and Thomas Quasthoff. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

J S Bach appended the initials SDG (Soli Deo Gloria, meaning ‘to the Glory of God alone’) at the end of each of his Cantatas scores. These same initials identify the label of the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra’s recordings made during the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage and conducted by the incomparable Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Ysaÿe Records

Few string quartets start up a new recording company. However, France’s Ysaÿe Quartet did just that to provide the public with a living discography that corresponds to their work and artistic development. In addition to their own critically acclaimed performances of quartet repertoire by Beethoven, Fauré, Haydn, Mozart and Schumann, the Ysaÿe’s mid-price series Nascor introduces young artists such as pianist Alberto Nosè and the Amedeo Modigliani Quartet.

Zig-Zag Territoires wishes to offer along with its CDs - unique objects, halfway between individual craftsmanship and industry - a genuine intellectual and aesthetic complement, through in-depth booklet notes and original artwork by the painter Anne Peultier who created more than 150 paintings. It has turned out to be an exciting adventure, enriching the experience of record-making, which becomes an artistic exchange between label, musicians, sound engineer, painter, designer. Since 2009, photography replaced fresh paintings together with Georges Garcia Morales, Jérôme Witz.
